Here we are, galloping through November like the reindeer on Christmas Eve. How’s it going? Are you ‘ready for Christmas’? Or, like some people I know, are you barely ready for tomorrow? Don’t get stressed. Take a deep breath, make a plan – a plan made up of small, achievable plans which you can tick off bit by bit and remember – this is a HAPPY time. Don’t make yourself UNhappy. And if you’re feeling unhappy, TALK.

Christmas IS Coming

Here in the clinic, we are ALMOST ready for Christmas. With a young family, I have to be organised and have everything sorted well before we begin to wind down. And let’s face it, with youngsters, ‘winding down’ doesn’t really feature much… we just have the finishing decorative touches and festive lights to go up and it’ll be beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

A gentle reminder, get your pre-Christmas appointments booked – they’re filling up fast (and we need time off, too!) and we already have only limited availability between now and when we close for our Christmas break on the Thursday before Christmas Eve – that’s the 21st. After that, until 8 January, we can only see patients in an emergency.

Know someone who loves the best skincare or treatments? We have put together lots of tempting treats and different gift ideas, which we are happy to cellophane wrap or gift box for you.  If there’s something specific you would like to create, or you’d like advice to work to a specific budget then let us know – and feel free to ask about vouchers or for help planning a gift of treatments. And yes, of course, we’re a little biased – but we know a LOT of people who would be thrilled to find these under the Christmas tree!

News and (Rotten) Weather

Dark nights and miserable weather are kicking in now so it’s important to take care of yourself – have a little read of our blog about SAD, Vitamin D and hydrating your skin in winter. It’s well worth reiterating the salient details therein.

What’s new, though? Amy’s been published in another professional publication, this time the Aesthetic Medicine journal. The journal’s tagline is ‘Inspiring Best Practice in Medical Aesthetics’, which as you know, we’re pretty ardent about. It’s a fascinating and inspiring look at neck rejuvenation with polynucleotides, complete with a case study. Too many people neglect the neck area. And let’s be honest, it really doesn’t matter how firm, tight and fresh-looking your face is if your neck resembles a turkey’s. More importantly, too many people neglect the area when applying SPF. DON’T!

We have also completed the comprehensive updated training in the Perfect Peel and now offer both the Perfect Peel and Perfect Super Blend. Have you ever tried a peel? You’ll be thrilled. A peel uses specific acids and enzymes for a power-packed exfoliating treatment to uncover fresher, clearer skin with an undeniable glow. An expertly formulated, prescriptive peel can also minimise open pores, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and even improve acne, pigmentation, and sun damage. Rest assured, a peel – in the right hands – is a fairly gentle treatment, customised to suit each patient’s skin.

In other exciting news – which we’ll go into lots more detail on soon, we are now official stockists of Made of More – a new brand of skin care specifically developed for menopausal skin patients and the incredible and clinically-proven Glowa hair nutrition supplements. Watch this space!

Saving (Your) Face

We have achieved our 7th year of accreditation with Save Face this year. As mentioned above, best practice in medical aesthetics is something we feel very strongly about. Don’t risk your skin, your face, or even your eyesight with unqualified – and therefore uninsured – people.

Save Face is the ONLY Patient Safety Accreditation recognised by the NHS. Save Face is a patient’s assurance of appropriate training and insurance standards along with the correct clinical environment. Accreditation is no walk in the park – this is way more than just a badge or a soundbite. Being Save Face accredited entails an initial 116-point assessment, then a comprehensive 54-point assessment EVERY year.

Save Face means you can rest assured your practitioner is:

  • A registered doctor, dentist, nurse or prescribing pharmacist.
  • Appropriately trained in each treatment listed on their Save Face profile.
  • Fully insured.
  • Using products and equipment which are safe, effective, genuine and from licensed suppliers.
  • Working in a clinic which has been assessed to ensure it meets exacting safety, hygiene and quality standards.

Save Face will only recognise healthcare professionals. The aim is to signpost patients to safe clinicians in what is a currently woefully under-regulated industry. Don’t trust YOUR face with anything less.

And That’s a Wrap

We have lots to look forward to in the new year and many exciting things planned for 2024. There’ll be new products, extended hours, and (fingers crossed) an online shopping portal!

All that’s left for this year – apart from the wrapping, of course – is to remind you to look after yourself and have yourself a merry little Christmas. We wish you and your family all the very best in health and happiness.
