Well. There you have it. Despite what seemed like around 127 cold and dreary days, the Monday-est of months is already over. February is just a hop, skip and a jump away from Spring. Take a look around you. Trees are in bud. Snowdrops are tenaciously making their way through the ground, daffodils following, and the bright, cheery crocuses won’t be far behind. Oh, happy days!

Happy Days in 2022

Not that I’m wishing time away, far from it. It’s important to make the best of every day and to find positives everywhere. Indeed, that’s one important tool for good mental health and wellbeing – practising gratitude and finding blessings to count. Some days you just have to look a little harder, but at least 2022 seems to have got off on the right foot. How’s your January been? Any big plans or changes?

Looking Good and Feeling Better

And how’s your skin looking after the party season (coupled with the double-whammy of being out in the cold then hurrying indoors to ultra-drying fires and radiators)? While we’re on the subject of mental wellbeing, there’s a clear correlation between looking your best and FEELING it. It’s not vanity; it’s a confidence thing and what’s more, it’s self-perpetuating (a little like Profhilo and collagen production!) Previous blog posts wax lyrical on both these very things, as well as other aesthetics and wellness subjects, have a read:

The Right Aesthetic or Anti-Ageing Treatment for You

When you call into the clinic to discuss ANY aesthetic or anti-ageing treatments, we’ll talk about what you hope to achieve, whether that’s realistic and what we should consider. I won’t treat anyone without being totally sure it’s right for them. I will, however, offer all sorts of advice, whether that’s on nutrition or clinical-grade skincare. My clinic is, as the name suggests, about aesthetics AND wellness. Wellness is vital and starts from within. But, as I say, what’s on the outside sure can help a lot.

The RIGHT Aesthetics Practitioner

Something which I often talk about is the need to check your aesthetic practitioner’s credentials. Please, never let just anyone inject or do anything to your face. In the right – qualified, experienced, expert and INSURED hands – the risks are negligible. In the unlikely event of any problems or reactions, they can often be dealt with. Conversely, in unqualified, inexperienced hands you could be at risk of nerve damage, palsy – even blindness. It’s simply not worth the risk. Beauticians and beauty therapists can be very talented. We all love a facial or a restorative massage – and these, too, come with their own health benefits. Did you know massage is thought to help lower blood pressure? BUT. And it’s a big but. They are not usually medically trained and qualified and THAT is key.

The Right Credentials

My background is medical. I’ve been a qualified nurse and NMC-registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council for over 22 years. On top of that, I also have a specialist practitioner’s degree, Masters in emergency medicine, a fellowship in education and non-medical prescribing qualifications. I am almost obsessive about safety, delivering care and treatments to the highest standards, and evidence-based practice. Nor did I abandon the NHS to set up my clinic – I STILL work as an advanced clinical practitioner on the medical rota. I continue to serve the NHS not just because it’s right – after all, the NHS gave me my training and career – but also because it’s a brilliant way to develop my skills and stay at the cutting edge of an ever-changing profession.

TEN Years of the Right Credentials

That professional expertise means my patients and clients can be confident that they’re in the SAFEST of safe hands. I set up AL Medical Aesthetics and Wellness back in 2012. We’re 10 whole years old, NOW, this very February. A whole decade! In that time, my training and development along with enthusiasm for staying at the forefront of the profession mean we’ve evolved from purely standard medical aesthetics. We now administer expert and sympathetic aesthetics and anti-ageing treatments plus a comprehensive wellness service, offering treatments for disease and disorders. From Phlebotomy to Prescription Weight Loss and much in-between. We’re CQC-registered and Save Face accredited. Your face and your wellbeing are safe with us. Always!

I’ve loved growing my business and getting to know you all, and I can’t wait for what the next ten years will bring. Thank you for being part of it!

I Know How YOU Feel

So, that was my credentials. My professional medical and aesthetic background and experience. But maybe you’d like to know a little about the person, too? Refreshingly approachable, in many ways, I’m probably just like you. I work hard and I love my friends and occasional nights out, too. I’m 43, so I know how it feels to look – and feel – tired and have been married for 12 years. I met my husband on holiday in Tenerife. We have two little girls, who arrived with the help of IVF.

I know how you feel.

I’d love to say I’m also a real gym bunny, plus yoga and Pilates devotee. Perhaps you’re happier to know that, actually, my downtime is spent mainly with my family, or keeping house. All while trying to stay relatively sane. Like many of us, I really need to do something about that work/life balance. Fortunately, when you love your work as much as I do, life’s good. Told you. It’s all about making the best of every day and counting every blessing. If you’d like to have a chat and see how we can help you, contact us now.
